I've been asshole deep in homework as of late, not that anyone cares or was concerned of my whereabouts, but it only feels right to explain why I have neglected this joint. The mountain of homework has also left me little time to get out and chase my finned friends. That being said I can almost see the light at the end of tunnel and I keep telling myself all of this shit will be worth it in the end. It's doubtful, but it gets me through each day...
Even with my crazy schedule the crew had set aside the weekend of April 26th to attempt our first Trout Camp of 2013. I was gitty as a school girl as the dates neared, because like I said my days have consisted of get up - go to work - come home - do homework - repeat. As the weekend drew near I noticed one major flaw in our flawless plan. The weather. I know it's uncontrollable, but it had folks dropping faster than groomsman at a wedding. Four of us decided to press on and we were treated to a fantastic Friday, but it was definitely the calm before the storm. Needless to say the rains came early Friday night and it's still raining in A-town as we speak. So is my life... trust me I wont be playing the lottery any time soon.
On a lighter note I've got plans in the works for our second fly-cation this July. It'll most likely include lots of alcohol, midget hookers, and the gulf cost. Stay tuned for the details!

Mama Left The Backdoor Cracked, and I Made A Break For It...
What do you get when you combine cerveza, trout hollerin', and a free weekend away from the hustle? Trout Camp 2K11 Part II of course... This trip was thrown together last minute, and turned out to be just what my therapist ordered. Somehow we dodged the evening rains, high heat, and alcohol poisoning and even managed to wrangle a few trout. As with most trips this one ended to soon, and now for me it's back to the grind...

We Now Return To Your Regularly Scheduled Bull$#!@...
Trout camp 2k11 I is officially in the books and I can safely say that everyone made it back to civilization with all of their appendages. We managed to get some fishing in but, mostly this trip was about recharging the batteries, so there was a lot of sittin' around the fire shootin' the shit while casually sippin' on some cold cerveza's ya dig? We did explore some new water and I think overall we were just reminded why camping during Memorial Day weekend is not the hottest idea if you enjoy catching fish and solitude. As always enjoy some pics from the trip (some courtesy of Rachel Hutton Photography).

In The Eye Of The Shit Storm
I'm sure the very few that actually take a peek into this shit hole on occasion have noticed the lack of content around this joint. Did you think we were holdin' out on all the sick spots or maybe just rippin' so many lips we couldn't make time in our schedule to actually sit down and type out a trip report? In a perfect world I would tell you it's a combination of all of the above... unfortunately my world is far from a fairy tale. I have had several significant life changes come my way this year and while in the long run I know I'm better for it, in the now it is really puttin' a hurtin' on all of my extra curricular activities. I didn't envision that in the second year of the FLY fishing gee haw bullshit, at the end of April that I would have only had my fly down a total of two times (yes I said two).
Alright enough of that. So the whole "in the eye of the shit storm" metaphor is relevant because there is somewhat of a reprieve in the next few weeks (the eye is the calm part no?). FLY is about to storm the mountain's again to reassemble our mini circus looking, wiki hut village, formally known as Trout Camp. This year were going all out with camp fire sing songs and the hole nine. If all goes according to plan I will be making a few recon trips with the Shorthair'd Trout Pointer and hope to get a little fishing in along with some scoutin'. All I can say is that I'm in need of this trip about as much as this dump's in need of a new paint job...
