Tips From The Pro's... Courtsey Of The Joe's

I don't really consider myself in a position to be handing out tips. Yea I've been doing this for a long time, but I'll leave the tips for those who are on the water 300+ days a year and whose mortgage depends on putting clients on fish. FLY fishing has always been, for me at least, alluring for the simple fact that once you think you've reached the pinnacle, the point where you should be dressed head to toe in the WhORVIS trout bum collection, there is always more to learn. I do however feel OVER qualified to rip info off of the web and pass it along. I have to add my disclaimer though, because if the tip sucks don't blame me. I didn't come up with it. I merely passed it along so that you could give it a whirl. You can thank me later!

Mmm Beer...

These days it seems beer has become synonymous with FLY fishing. Take a peek on any message board and you'll run across hordes of hero shots with a shiny PBR can in the background. I know personally even if I wasn't flinging flies I'd still be drinking beer, and that goes without saying this bunch of misfits can consume a lot of beer, so much so maybe some of them may want to start considering it a problem... if nothing else for their health. I also have a hard time getting my head around the fact that some dudes actually choose to drink beer such as PBR, Busch, and Old Milwaukee. I'm no snob and will admit I have consumed plenty of Nasty Boys in my day but, these days you won't see me coming out of the Seven-Eleven with a 12'er of PBR. On a daily basis It's hard to beat a Bud Light, but there are also a lot of good craft beer's out there just waiting to be sampled which leads me to my point.
During last months Trout-cation, we spent a few evenings re-hydrating at Nantahala Brewing Co. in Bryson City. If your in the area I highly recommend you stop in and check them out. It's a cool spot to hang and even better is the fact that they brew some quality beer. Unfortunately at this time it's only available in North Carolina and they haven't started bottling it yet so you'll be forced to pick up a growler. My favorite was the Dirty Girl Blonde, so if you stop in be sure to give it a try. Check out their website here and as their logo says "Water is for quitters".

Trout-cation Vol. 1: An Attempt To Drink Swain County Dry

The Senior Dirty South Fish Hustla' is back in the office and as you may have noticed my plan to update daily ran into a major speed bump of the cell service variety. One would think the fine folks at Huskey Cabin Rentals would offer free wifi along with continental breakfast, but no dice on both. The trip however was a good one. Besides Monday's flood that left the southeast as whole nearly underwater, we couldn't have asked for better weather. The fishing was just as good apart from a couple of slow days, but even then we managed to rip a few lips. We shot a lot of photos on the trip, so I figured I'd leave you with a best of the best from Trout-cation vol. 1.
On a side note I think we may have added a new member to the fold. J-money as he likes to be referred to as is the handsome tallish fellow you'll see in some of the following photos. Now for me it's back to the grind...
