The Bags Are Packed !
We're at it again... By this time Friday it's bye, bye smog filled city air and hello my lungs are not use to this pure mountain air. It's TROUT CAMP PART III. Anticipation is building and we're hoping the results will be better than our last outing. If you see us out there be sure and wave and don't worry... we promise not to burn the whole place down!

Put A "Kork" In It !
While my wading boots have definitely seen better days, choosing a new pair is almost like buying a new car. It's gotta perform, and catch the ladies' eyes while doing it. Behold the new Simms Rivertek Boa Lace Boot... Dorkers has officially been bitch slapped!
The skinny courtesy of Midcurrent: Saturday morning we visited the Simms design and production facility in Bozeman, Montana and got a sneak peek at their new boat lace boot, which features PVC uppers for super-easy cleaning and the Boa Lacing System. For those who haven't tried Boa laces -- coated braided wire tightening via a knob at the top of the boot tongue -- they make lace-tightening and fit and no brainer. But more importantly, if your fingers are freezing, wet, or just tired, the instant-release feature makes boot removal a breeze. The new RiverTek Boa is priced at $169.95 and will be available in Spring, 2011.

Back To Pop's...
The dirty south is experiencing a bit of a heat wave. Actually it's more like the heat was cruising through, it's ride broke down and it has just been hanging out for the last awe lets say... whole summer. I must confess I cursed the Irish weather we had this spring, and caught myself constantly talking about how I couldn't wait until summer. I had something a little cooler in mind while dreaming of summer... it wasn't anything remotely close to the bloody heat wave that has caused every trout below 2000 Ft to swim upside down!
Anyway KPV and I decided Saturday we would make a trip back to Pop's to see how the warm water fishes were faring. Unfortunately the bucketmouths were showing signs of heat stroke as well. We were on the water from eight until eleven thirty and all we had to show for time was sunburn, dehydration and a few gills. I would say come on fall but i'll not dare poke that sleeping bear... from now on my thoughts on the weather will remain unspoken. On a hopefully much cooler note FLY will be taking part in Trout Camp Part Tres in a few weeks. You can expect to see pictures of full frontal trout nudity from this trip as I am making this my sole mission. Until then enjoy some pics of Pop's magical oasis...

A Lid... More Than Just Coverage For The Balding Fly Caster!
A FLY lid is more than just protection from the elements. A trusty hat can serve as a FLY patch, protection from ticks carrying lime disease, and even free advertisement for your favorite rod company ( I have really been paying attention in marketing class ). Today we take a look a some FLY lids...
The Trucker...
The Painters Hat...
The Flat Cap...
The Fedora...
And Last But Not Least The Long Bill...
The FLY fisherman now has a legitimate excuse for being late. " Bill I couldn't decide on which hat to wear "
