Trout Camp... That Wasn't
I've been asshole deep in homework as of late, not that anyone cares or was concerned of my whereabouts, but it only feels right to explain why I have neglected this joint. The mountain of homework has also left me little time to get out and chase my finned friends. That being said I can almost see the light at the end of tunnel and I keep telling myself all of this shit will be worth it in the end. It's doubtful, but it gets me through each day...
Even with my crazy schedule the crew had set aside the weekend of April 26th to attempt our first Trout Camp of 2013. I was gitty as a school girl as the dates neared, because like I said my days have consisted of get up - go to work - come home - do homework - repeat. As the weekend drew near I noticed one major flaw in our flawless plan. The weather. I know it's uncontrollable, but it had folks dropping faster than groomsman at a wedding. Four of us decided to press on and we were treated to a fantastic Friday, but it was definitely the calm before the storm. Needless to say the rains came early Friday night and it's still raining in A-town as we speak. So is my life... trust me I wont be playing the lottery any time soon.
On a lighter note I've got plans in the works for our second fly-cation this July. It'll most likely include lots of alcohol, midget hookers, and the gulf cost. Stay tuned for the details!

Tired of Wet Feet?
Seems like lately I've been suffering from a case of the 'ole damp foot. I can't complain though, my Simms waders are going on nearly 10 years old, and they have been damn good. Sure they've had leaks, and the fine folks at Simms have patched and re-taped every seam on them at some point in the last 10 years. I guess in some ways I liken my waders to a good dog, they've always been there for me and they have some pretty badass fish juju. I got to thinking (as I sometimes do) the other day that it might be time to replace them. I can't see going with any other brand but hey, I'm like the next guy... I'm into the latest and greatest. With that being said the folks over at the Yellowstone Angler may have made that new wader purchase a little easier on you and me. Check out the 2013 wader shootout here. And yes I may have just saved us both from another winter with wet feet!

Help Thy Neighbor
Wild trout streams are the jewels of the Southern Appalachians, and many of these streams are constantly under threats from various sources. We need to all make a conscious effort to protect our resources if we want them to exist for future generations, in their natural state. The guys over at Sizemore Outdoors need our help, in order to save Fires Creek. The NCWRC is proposing the addition of a delayed harvest section to the lower portion of Fires Creek, and your input is needed to put the brakes on this project. Read the whole story here and find out how you can help. Your efforts will be rewarded with large amounts of big fish karma!
