Dogs To The Left, Brookies To The Right...
Summertime is officially here in the south and with it came the blazing heat. For the trout bum this means up early or up in elevation. So Saturday we decided on one of our favorite blue lines and an evening starting time as a little change of pace. We arrived to see our little slice of heaven was the obvious site of the official 4th of July pregame camping weekend. Since our destination was a feeder off of the main attraction I wasn't to worried. We struck out up the trail, each of us anticipating getting to our usual starting point. A beautiful waterfall that marks the beginning of the end... the start of the water holding the native brook trout we were in search of and the end of the road for their non-native relatives. We reached our staring point and I was the first to bushwack down the hill to the stream. I got our day off by spooking at least four in the first pool...but after letting them settle down a bit I was immediately hooked up. A poor hook set let our first speck of the day free before I could get him to hand. It was then KPV's turn. First cast and he was hooked up... poor hook set and speck number two was prematurely on his way. We were then high and low holed by these two guys...
( Note to self... self, probably not a good idea to bring Cephus and his ladies to blue line. ) In spite of our rude guests who found humor in running back and forth through each run until it resembled chocolate milk, brookies were caught.( I'm not sure if there are many things more fun than throwing attractor dries to brookies on a suicide mission. ) We ended up fishing until the light faded leaving us no choice but to head back down the trail and call it a day. Fun was had by one and all, although the trout hounds insisted they made more of their time than we did. I beg to differ... check out the pics below and decide for yourself!

MOLDY BOW'S
This Wednesday I present to you a short TR from last Saturdays outing...
We decided on the RIVER as the moving water of choice mainly due to the fact that we felt as though we had neglected her as of late. After the usual meet and breakfast routine we were on the water by eight and greeted with this...
Fish were caught and some looked as if they had spent the night in a crapper tank aboard one of the lakes many houseboats...
Saw a deer and even witnessed a hawk dive through the fog and snatch a trout for breakfast...
Storms came in so we called it a day. Nice to get out and see an old friend... ( All trout were caught on a chartreuse clouser... your welcome! )

Taming the Wild
The FLY crew just got back to the office last week from our FLY adventure in the mountains. What was suppose to be a 6 day camping and fly fishing trip turned into only 3 days...massive thunderstorms and crazy lightning with some rain took us back to house. We did get in 3 days of wild trouting though. We took refuge in the Blueridge WMA around Bull Mountain and Springer Mountain near the AT. The whole place was desolate of people. Jamie and I only crossed paths with one other fly fisher(an older gentlemen with a wealth of knowledge of the area that gave us some of his secret spots that will be visited in later days) and some people that were on the prowl for a romantic place to hang. I compiled a video of some pics and video we took. We didn't have as much media to play around with as was originally planned, but all in all it turned out awesome. I hope you enjoy.

Honey I'm Home!
Well we made it back alive, and aside from a few weather and work set backs the week/weekend was pretty solid. We spent a total of four days on the water and who knows how many fish were caught! Volume 2 is in the works and will be up soon ( come on you can't rush these sort of things ). Until it's completion enjoy some guy in a sombrero chasin' largies...
