Holy Water

Jan. 24 2011 marked the deadline for the sports at American Whitewater to submit their final rants regarding the USFS's current ban on boating the upper Chattooga. (Click the link for details http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/Article/view/articleid/30903/ )

This leads Sir Izaak to ask the question " Come on man this shit again?"

¡Feliz Cumpleaños!

I would like to take a moment to personally wish Señor Wejebe a happy belated birthday (1/19). Let's hope Jose did not relive the events of Oct. 14 2005 and try once again to out run the boys in blue with a blown tire and a blood alcohol level of .107... next time Jose call a cab amigo!

Rachel Hutton Photography

Since none of us here at the FLY fishing gee-haw bullshit can be considered photographers in any way... I was honored when I received the go-ahead to make this post. While Rachel may not be known in FLY fishing circles just yet, she definitely has an eye for shooting some amazing outdoor shots. Even better is the fact that she has offered to tag along with this bunch of outsiders whenever we toss her an invite. Just thinking about this wonderful opportunity makes me feel as if I am Brad Pitt in "A River Runs Through It".
Anyway check out some of her work here http://rachelhuttonphotography.com and a link to her site can also be found under the FLY Shit tab. To top it all off Rachel was gracious enough to send me a couple of shots to include in this post, and yes the second pic is of yours truly, and no it's not staged...and yes I do look good in HD!

A Look Into The Rearview Mirror: Objects Farther Than They Appear

2010 A Year in Review

Two thousand and ten for us started off in the bitter cold of January, high in the North Georgia Mountains prospecting for Brookies. The season ended, winter in full swing, throwing streamers to tailwater Browns. Somewhere in between there were the Largies from Pops' magical oasis and the Rainbows of those mountain freestones. Combined we spent a third of the year on the water. There was a broken rod, some amazing scenery and even the one that got away. We were up early, hiked a good bit, camped our fair share, and even burned the midnight oil on occasion. We caught the hell outta some fish and while maybe we didn't get to explore that Carp flat we had our eye on, or catch that twenty four inch Brownie, twenty-ten was a banner year.
Kpv and I got together recently to discuss resolutions for the new year and I figured I'd share the list and let everyone know what you can expect from this bunch of misfits in twenty-eleven. (This was about all we came up with before getting side tract watching "National Lampoons' Christmas Vacation).

New Year's Resolutions for 2011
  • Fish harder
  • Start line of trout scented cologne
  • Win Lottery
  • Take Mila Kunis to pound town (that's a personal one of mine)
  • Camp more
If the memories stay with you, they were more than likely good ones. The bad ones you would like to think will eventually fade away like the fleeting season. At FLY we are looking forward to more buzzin' reels in twenty-eleven and hope that you'll check in every once and awhile to make sure we're still breathing...
