Get'cha FLY On Fisha'

It's been a while....

This is my first post in a few months...no I have not been incarcerated as some may have said or has my probi officer restricted my use of the internet(no, i don't have a probation officer). I have been slaving away for the "Man" and the "Collegiate Man". Yes I have been trying to make the chee and get the degree. By no means has the hustle I'm running affected my fly fishing. I've been in the mountains hitting up the wild streams of Appalachia. Mountain Man is what I've become. Beard and all. Fly fishing has been AWESOME with many wild ones to hand. Browns, bows, and hoes is what I've been pulling, with the occasional 10-13+" wild trout and 9's and 10's of the hoes on the 1-10 rating scale. Grades are sucking a little for those who are concerned. Two accounting classes in a semester are not a good idea. For those who read this and are required to take those...Don't...I am actually procrastinating from studying for my final I have tomorrow, but in the end it's the same ol' story. Procrastination is kind of like masturbation it's all good and fun until you realize you are just screwing yourself in the end(these are words of wisdom of Jamie). Back to fishing, it's been wicked. Got a new sage txl 3 wt and an abel creek reel in the past month for these small secluded mountain jewels I have been hitting up(ballin' in my honest opinion). That's about all that is new with me. Now for you fish pornography feigns, here are the goods of my harvest and I do not mean I whack the trout I catch, I am a C&R man myself. Here goes...

My lack of career + Whit having a day off yesterday = The River...

Whit and I threw caution to the wind yesterday afternoon to take full advantage of the blue bird skies and to work on her skillz. We made it to the RIVER around five and after a few tips from her instructor (now accepting new students for a small fee) I left her alone to become one with the long wand. I walked a little below her, not wanting to get a free piercing and first cast had a Bow hammer a soft hackle. I released the Bow trying to be as nonchalant as possible knowing this being Whit's second trip the rod may be in jeopardy if she has to go home with the skunk twice. I made sure all of my knots were still intact and began to flog the water again when the silence was broken by Whit yelling look, look... I turned to see this...

Followed By...

And finally an up close of her first Trout On The FLY (yes I had to hold it)...

I managed to pick up another on top before Whit started complaining about numbness in her lower extremities...

On our way out we were almost molested by the orange face bandit. The real Chester Cheeto was obviously a Goose...

Who knows I may be the next Lefty Kreh! Until next time "May A Large Trout Bendeth Your Rod".

Slaving For The Man!

Opening day has come and gone here in the ATL, as well as your weekly Wednesday humpfest without so much as a peep out of yours truly (not that anyone reads this anyway). What have I been up to you ask?? Well not that I'm complaining but I have been busy slaving for the man. Looking at the bigger picture the more work the more the opportunities to buy rods and other useless FLY junk...
Anywho with the most excellent weather we have been having the fishing reports have been solid with some nice fish being caught! With some free time Friday I made it out on the Lake with Doggie for a bit to see if we could tangle with some linesides. The Stripes ended up being MIA but Doggie managed to boat a few spots on a Yamamoto special while I went home with nothing to show for my efforts but an uneven farmers tan and an unmolested FLY. I decided I needed to feel a tight line so I rounded up the troops again yesterday morning and we headed for the RIVER. We arrived to see the human hatch going in full force and a few Dale Earnhardt fans even going for a swim (RIP Intimidator). After sight seeing for a bit we jumped in and immediately began catching fish. We ended up catching our fair share of snits and also LDR'ed a few better fish. Most fish came on midges and while we did see some risers there was no steady surface activity. On a side note while fishing one of the first runs a rogue goose ran straight into my stick on the back cast... I assume the goose had been in the parking lot huffing paint although I cannot confirm this. Who knows maybe he/she was feeling a little disoriented after drinking some of the River water... whatever the case that would have been the catch (or ride) of a lifetime. We ended up calling it quits around four as I was starting to feel the affects of my newly added layer of sunburn. It was a good day of catching and hanging out with the crew. I won't bore you with pics of tiny trouts but will leave you with KPV working a run hard....
